We’ve re-elected Andrew Jackson

All of the other explanations aside, read Dana Milbank’s piece today (https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/a-stunning-cake-and-a-stunned-nation/2016/11/09/988665fe-a634-11e6-8fc0-7be8f848c492_story.html) and you’ll realize that we’ve re-elected Andrew Jackson. Remember those stories about the rustics with muddy boots overrunning the White House after Jackson’s inauguration? Remember the Trail of Tears when Jackson forced the Cherokee nation to make a deadly journey on foot to Oklahoma so white men could have their land? There were lots of tears then…and this is a crying shame, too.

Pace.

We’re definitely in mourning in Maine. Most troubling are the reports of hate crimes sprouting up around the country against people of color, Muslims and gays. I’ve started a petition to call Trump out on this. https://www.change.org/p/donald-j-trump-trump-must-denounce-racist-xenophobic-islamophobic-behavior-now?recruiter=23959640&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=share_for_starters_page&utm_term=des-lg-share_petition-no_msg

Thanks for the comment and for carrying the torch for human decency and human rights. As long as we have the right to speak out, we must. Best, MK
