There will be more to say about human rights in posts to come, but for now, can anyone tell me the source of each of the following quotes?
- “The state of nature is governed by a law that creates obligations for everyone. And reason, which is that law, teaches anyone who takes the trouble to consult it, that because we are all equal and independent, no-one ought to harm anyone else in his [sic]life, health, liberty, or possessions.”
2. “Article 1 All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood[sic]….Article 3 Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.”
3. “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men [sic] are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.” (emphasis added)
